A complaint index compares how many confirmed complaints an insurer got with how much business it does. 1.00 is average; below 1 means fewer complaints than expected for its size, above 1 means more. We use the Indiana Department of Insurance's official 2025 index (Indiana policies only), combining each company's insurers into one group figure. We also show California's 2025 justified-complaint rate for auto (complaints per 100,000 insured vehicles; lower is better). It's one signal, not a verdict, and we don't provide quotes.
