Cancel a subscription

Stop paying for what you don't use. Find your service, follow the steps, and see what you save. You do the cancelling; we never log in or cancel for you.

Best first move

  1. Check how you pay. If it's billed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon or Roku, cancel there.
  2. Cancel on the company's own page (steps and links below) and save the confirmation.
  3. Check your next statement. Charged again? Ask for a refund, then dispute the charge.

What cancelling saves

Cancelling saves you, each year

$185.88

About $15.49 a month

Example filled in: $15.49 a month. Change it to yours.

Show the math
  • A year: $15.49 × 12 payments a year (monthly) = $185.88
  • A month: $185.88 ÷ 12 = $15.49

Formula: price × payments a year (weekly 52, monthly 12, every 3 months 4, every 6 months 2, yearly 1). Prices go up over time, so check your latest bill.

How to cancel anything

  1. Find where you pay. Look at your card or bank statement. Apple, Google Play, Amazon and Roku charges are cancelled in those accounts.
  2. Cancel on the official page. Use the steps and the official link below. If someone offers a deal, you can still say “cancel”.
  3. Save proof. A screenshot or the confirmation email, with the date and a confirmation number.
  4. Check your next statement. Charged again? Ask the company for a refund, then dispute it with your card company or bank.

Your cancellation rights

  • Federal law (ROSCA) says online sellers that charge you again and again must give you a simple way to stop the charges. (ROSCA)
  • The FTC's 2024 “click-to-cancel” rule is not in effect. A federal appeals court threw it out on July 8, 2025, and on Feb. 12, 2026 the FTC put its older rule back. The FTC asked for comments on a possible new rule in March 2026; as of Oct. 20, 2026, no new rule has been proposed. (FTC, Mar. 2026, FTC, Feb. 2026, Unified Agenda)
  • Some states go further. California: signed up online, you can cancel online. New York: cancelling must be as easy as signing up. Minnesota: websites with account settings need a clear cancel option. (Calif. BPC 17602, N.Y. GBL 527-a, Minn. Stat. 325G.60)
  • Stopping automatic payments is not the same as cancelling. Cancel with the company, then tell your bank you took back permission. Charges after that are errors your bank can help fix. A stop payment order may cost a fee. (CFPB)
  • Charged on a credit card after you cancelled? Write to your card company within 60 days of the statement that first shows the charge. (Fair Credit Billing Act)

FAQ

Is the FTC click-to-cancel rule in effect?

No. A federal appeals court threw out the FTC's 2024 click-to-cancel rule on July 8, 2025, and on Feb. 12, 2026 the FTC put its older rule back. The FTC asked for comments on a possible new rule in March 2026; as of Oct. 20, 2026, no new rule has been proposed. Federal law (ROSCA) still requires a simple way to stop recurring online charges, and some states, like California, New York and Minnesota, have their own rules.

How much does cancelling save?

Price times payments a year. Example: $15.49 a month × 12 = $185.88 a year.

Does VaultRubric cancel for me?
