Refund and dispute kit

Your letters, complaint text and deadlines for getting money back. You send and file everything yourself; we never contact anyone for you. Everything you type stays in this browser.

Best first move

  1. Ask the seller for a refund, in writing. Keep a copy and the date.
  2. Not fixed? Dispute it with your card company or bank now. Your dispute must reach them within 60 days of the statement that first showed the charge. Call, then put it in writing.
  3. Still stuck? File a free complaint: the CFPB for a card company or bank, your state for the seller.

What's in the kit

  1. My letters and complaints. Fill in a few boxes and get five drafts: the billing error letter to your card company, the error notice to your bank, the refund request to the seller, and the text for a CFPB or state complaint. Re: Billing error notice, account ending in [last 4 digits]
  2. My dispute tracker. Each charge with its deadlines: when your dispute must arrive, when they must confirm, and when they must finish. Totals for still open and money back.

The refund and dispute kit is part of VaultRubric Pro. Cancel anytime before day 8 and you pay nothing.

Sources

We never contact a company, file a dispute or complaint, or send anything for you, and nothing you type is sent to us. Rules can change and your card or account agreement may give you more time; the official sources are the final word. General information, not legal advice. No company pays to be on this page.

FAQ

Does VaultRubric send my dispute or file my complaint?

No. Pro fills in the letter or complaint text. You send or file it yourself, and nothing you type is sent to us.

Where do I mail a credit card billing error letter?

To the billing-error address on your statement, not the payment address. It must arrive within 60 days after the card company sent the statement that first showed the charge.

Estimates, not financial advice. Taxes, insurance, PMI and fees vary by lender, county and city; confirm with your lender, dealer and state agency before acting.
